Hi! My name is Jennifer and, contrary to the title of this blog, I am a recent college graduate. I graduated with a degree in teaching (grades 4-8) and am currently back on a university campus pursuing a graduate degree. I love music and played oboe and different percussive instruments in high school. I've been teaching myself piano for about five years now. I love to cook and have an unhealthy obsession with makeup (which coincidentally began around the time my unhealthy obsession with hair products ended). Hockey is my absolute favorite sport - I love it! I also love to read and have three (!) dogs.
Curly haircare became a "hobby" of mine in June of 2008 when I discovered
NaturallyCurly.com. Finally, an instruction manual for how to deal with curly hair! I read and read and read some more before joining in on the discussions. I purchased the original
Curly Girl book by Lorraine Massey (and now own the second edition as well). I started the CG method and quickly became the "curl expert" in my family. I also immediately became a product junkie, which I admit seems to be part of the process! Here's some more on my
hair story. I recently began
using a non-sulfate cleanser after almost three years of exclusive co-washing in my routine. I use this maybe once a month, if that.
I originally started this blog as a place to keep track of what products were working and how things like the dew point and humidity levels were affecting my hair and product choices. Somewhere along the way, it became a place to share ideas and review products and methods as well. I enjoy helping out curlies who are new to the CG way of life and wanted to build a more comprehensive space for that.
I love feedback, so please feel free to leave comments and questions. Even if it's just to say hi! I can also be reached at
collegecurly@gmail.com. Thanks for reading!
