KCSS: Take 1 1/2

This product is seemingly as confusing as KCCC. Some call it a refresher - it does come in a spray bottle, after all. Some call it a serum - spritz? more like stream! This product is a bit of a mystery to me, but if I can crack the code for KCCC, I can definitely do it with this!

My package from Curl Mart came last Tuesday night. I was anxious to use it, but I had somewhere important to be on Wednesday and wasn't very scientific in my experimentation the first time. I used this under everything - KCKT, Pink Boots, KCCC, & gel. I then used it the next morning as a refresher. Results? It seems to take away crunch and product-y feel left by my gel, which is nice. It helped a little with frizz. It did seem to fall hold-wise as the day went on though.

Flash forward to today. I decided to be diligent in my experimenting. It seemed like a lot to use Pink Boots with everything else I'm using, so I left it out. I've read that some have had success underneath all products and some put it over everything. I decided to try it underneath everything. Then I got distracted and used KCKT. So I ended up using this after my leave-in with hair still dripping wet. I applied it just like everything else - upside-down, to the left, and to the right. I sprayed about 8 sprays in my palm before scrunching each side.

My hair felt kind of weird when I was scrunching it in. Almost like what it feels like when I use aloe vera gel. I noticed my curls formed more quickly and there wasn't a lot of frizz (I'm prone to frizz when it's wet). It was a little stringy. I scrunched out water with a towel before scrunching in KCCC and finishing the routine.


It's not bad, per se. It looks pretty decent in person. It's more stringy than I'm used to, but I also didn't use pink boots. I'm not sure if I used too much KCCC or even too much of this stuff. Will continue to research!

A Short Update

Well, it's over. I'm an official college graduate.

My hair was looking pretty good for a while. Then I went outside (it was really humid). Then I was put in a small room with a thousand other graduates and no air conditioning for an hour before the ceremony. It looks pretty good here after that experience.

I was thinking about changing the name of this blog since I'm no longer a college curly. But I don't think "Ramblings and Rantings of an Unemployed Curly College Graduate" has the same ring, so for now it will stay as it has been for the past year and a half. If you have any ideas, let me know!

Hair's been looking pretty good lately, if I do say so myself; all thanks to pink boots and KCCC. But I figured it was time to try some new products. I can't even remember the last time I tried something new and reviewed it here. I just put in an order to Curl Mart for Kinky-Curly's Spiral Spritz and AG Re:coil. I read some good things about KCSS. I know that Re:coil has magnesium sulfate and protein, but I think I need a little bit of them. And I do tolerate protein better in warmer weather.

Anyway, I will hopefully get that package soon and get some reviews coming!

Second-Day Hair

This is untouched second-day hair. Meaning I literally just took it down from a modified pineapple. If I were going anywhere today (I'm stuck inside working on my final project), I would do a little spritzing to calm some of the frizz down. It actually doesn't look that bad in real life. It was hard to get a good shot on the new camera.

I changed up my routine a bit yesterday. I decided to go back to basics. For about a month now, I've always added gel in the middle of diffusing. Not a good idea, apparently. I think it was causing the curls to fall and adding a lot of frizz. I skipped it yesterday and some of my spirals are back! They're also a LOT softer and more manageable. Guess that experiment is over.

Also, I finally got a shipping notice from Sally. Looks like there were others who had the same idea as me. The Honey & Almond conditioner was out of stock, so my order is shipping without it. Oh well.

Well, it's been a while. Sorry about that. My hair was kind of put on the back burner over the last couple weeks since school has been so busy. Fortunately yesterday was my last official day student teaching so I will have more (actual) time for my hair and this blog!

First, I never did find that camera cord. Oh well.

Second, my hair has been kind of blah, partly because of said back burner and partly because of FSG (I'm guessing). Volume has been non-existent and it was getting a little dry. Curl pattern was not consistent either.

Saturday night I did an overnight DT with coconut oil hoping to get some of the moisture back. Then Sunday I used Suave's Coconut conditioner as a co-wash, hoping to perk those curls up with some protein, and went back to good old KCCC for styling. It helped a little.

Wednesday night I used all my regular conditioners but used KCCC and pink boots for styling. I didn't feel like it was that great on Thursday, mostly because pink boots makes my hair a little too soft for sleeping on. But I got a lot of compliments, so something must have gone right.

That's another thing that's been happening lately. The "Oh My God, Does Your Hair Naturally Do That All By Itself? I Hate You!" compliments. Usually when it's not looking it's best. I don't understand.

Anyway, I'm about to wash again (taking some pictures today to send out with graduation announcements!) and am planning on using pink boots and KCCC again. They work so well together, especially when I don't have to immediately go to sleep after washing.

But with my hair looking blah and not even reacting to Suave last week, I figure I can chance it. And it's on sale. That bottle of Suave was my only usable once-in-a-blue-moon protein source because my Giovanni products have oils in them. I finished it up last week, so I need a new source anyway. And it's on sale. Keratin also seems to be one of the better proteins. And it's a gallon. Did I mention it's on sale?

That's it for hair. I'm also getting a Palladio Tinted Lip Balm (in Golden Pink). I have one in Cotton Candy right now and LOVE it. I'm debating cheap nail polish right now. I like China Glaze but I don't want to dish out $5 on one bottle.

I have not forgotten about this blog!

I actually took some REAL pictures of my hair during Spring Break. I'm pretty sure it's been a hundred years since I've posted one of those.

I'm back and forth on the FSG thing. I get some pretty good, consistent curls. But my volume suffers. And not just on top; now it seems almost flattened to my head sometimes. Eh.

Anyway, I will have those up as soon as I find the camera cord! Here's something to tide you over (and a hint at the awesome thing I got to do over the break! Bonus points if you can figure it out!):
