Interesting Hair Day

Just a quick update - I know I've spent most of the last year working hard to coax spirals and ringlets from my hair, but imagine my surprise when I took down my hair this morning and discovered glamorous old Hollywood waves!

I had volume in all the right places, with a few ringlets strategically placed in the front. Of course it only lasted maybe an hour - it was SO hot out today. I really wish I had taken a picture, because I've never seen it like that, ever! It was a little curlier than Rita Hayworth here, but still glamorous all the same!

And then, for some odd reason, it morphed into an almost Farrah Fawcett-like style. Everything in the front flipped to curl towards the back. It really confused me. But I'll take it!

I find that I get hair like this reasonably often. My curl pattern sits on that edge between 2c/3a (basically it's 3a all the way around my hair line and 2c everywhere else), and I have yet to find a reliable method of styling it to get a particular look. Probably because I'm not dedicated enough to trying new things and/or keeping a log of what I did in what conditions to what result, lol. But at least a couple times a week I get a surprise with glamour waves, either as second-day hair or first-day hair that got no product or low-hold product in. I tend to favor mousses over gels (which results in volume over definition, but I really hate limp hair on me) so this may be why. Not sure if mousse is in your arsenal or if it would achieve that for you, since I think our textures are a bit different even though we share some qualities. Just a thought, though. :)

Thanks! I do end up waves on a regular basis - I think it was the volume that really made me notice. Surprisingly, I haven't tried mousse since before CG. It used to be my staple, but last summer I was converted to gel. Maybe this was the kick I needed to try it out again!
